Inspired by Autumn

I finished my autumn inspired painting. The original idea was for it to be all abstract, but a little leaf that I picked up on a walk and forgot in my bag, where I discovered it two days later, dried and neatly folded flat, made it on to the canvas.

40x40cm, acrylics/mixed media on canvas

I love the beautiful autumn leaves that we're getting in such abundance this year, thanks to the dry and calm weather. I've been out capturing them with my DSLR and Polaroid cameras several times. They're beautiful in all weathers and stages, and just so inspiring and uplifting.

    1. Thank you Valerie, and thanks for the link! This is on a stretched canvas, though, not in an art journal, so maybe it doesn't qualify for Art Journal Journey. But I might get my art journal out again, so much inspiration around this season :)

  2. I totally agree about the autumnal scenes we're witnessing this year. Your painting captures that beautifully, and I especially like the fallen leaf being included. It looks perfect.
    Happy PPF to you

  4. The leaf was meant for you to pick up and forget about. it fits in perfectly and truly makes the canvas unique! Great way to remember the colors of autumn.

  5. I love the story how the leaf came into your canvas. I collect leaves like that and often find them in a book I placed long ago. So fun to hear your story. The canvas is beautiful and brings back memories of many autumns.

  13. autumn colors are so rich and glorious. I really like how you played that sky blue gray color with the orange in the leaf. It really pops in that gorgeous photograph and you did a great job translating to paint. Nicely done!

I'm sorry I have missed a few things. I've been busy building a new website which proved to be an epic task, so it has left little time to be anywhere else! Still, all done now. Phew! :0)
